Anno 1503 is based on a whole new engine, so it won't be an add-on for Anno 1602. It's an entirely new game.The most important new features in Anno 1503, compared with Anno 1602, are:

• The map is ten times as large as in Anno 1602 and the islands are bigger

• The terrein is not flat anymore, but also contains valleys and hills

• 4 different views and 3 zooming levels

• Different climate-zones and landscapes, like deserts, tundra's, jungles and all with its own vegetation, animals and resources

• Advanced warfare, many different tactics and weapons

• Advanced foodchain

• Smart AI with it's own behaviors and interactions

• New ships with more possibilities

• 9 different native peoples (Aztecs, Africans, Moors, Mongols, Eskimo's, Cave-people, Indians, South-Americans and Beduins), each civilisation with it's own behaviors

• New multiplayer options, more than 4 players on one map and a new gameplay

• Advanced graphics, more than 300 buildings, 175 of them can be build by the player
